Sony plans to launch a new line of digital ebook readers

Sony, Japan’s consumer electronics giant, plans to launch a new line of digital ebook readers as soon as next month to challenge Amazon.com's Kindle.
The new ereader products will be introduced before Sony’s launch of their first tablets, scheduled to go on sale later this year.
Sony readers are behind in the race, competing against the Kindle and Barnes & Noble’s Nook.

Digital readers are still a viable product as they are still much cheaper than tablet devices.

Sony will be launching two tablets, both of which run Android 3.0, a.k.a. Honeycomb.

Setup a US iTunes account

As an existing iPad user I can tell you that the most important thing to do (besides not dropping it) is to setup a US iTunes account. There are a number of very cool free Apps which are not available in the South African iTunes store.

This US account will not be used for purchasing Apps from US iTunes store, as that would require a US credit card, but rather for accessing the free Apps from the US iTunes store.

You can have multiple iTunes accounts and swap between them very easily, so I would recommend an SA account linked to your SA credit card for purchases, and a US account for everything else.

Google Android Tablet Prototype spotted running Flash “flawlessly”

Adobe has been showing off the prototype Google Android tablet at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco. According to Max of Zedomax, who spotted this crafty gadget, it runs Flash and Adobe Air “flawlessly”.
